My daughter Sophie was desperately ill and the paramedics were very quick to recognize what was wrong.
Although they were directed to the Royal Women’s Hospital they were closer to the Alfred and asked permission to stop there. They seemed worried that the extra time could have cost Sophie her life.
That decision made the difference. And everyday for the rest of my life I thank them, and of course the team at the Alfred who were ready at the door to receive Sophie.
The paramedics provided the Alfred with an accurate diagnosis so their medical team was well prepared once we had arrived.
I too have had a number of trips to hospital by ambulance and on every occasion I am
in praise of their calm and their expertise and their very kind reassurance. This all makes everything seem less frightening and you feel you are in safe hands.
My congratulations and heart goes out to all paramedics. They do the most wonderful job, and from my experience, care so much for what they are doing for us as patients.
